Curitiba is undergoing significant economic and urban transformations through the ‘Curitiba de Volta ao Centro’ program.

Recent data from the Municipal Secretariat of Planning, Finance, and Budget indicates a 34% increase in new business permits from January to July 2026 compared to the previous year, averaging ten new companies per hour. This growth is primarily driven by the service sector, which rose by 34%, and the retail sector, which grew by 29%.

To support these transformations, the city has partnered with Caixa Econômica Federal to manage a R$ 30 million subsidy fund. This initiative, aimed at building retrofits, historic property restoration, and new housing and business development, has already attracted 47 proposals representing an expected R$ 268 million in total investments.

Infrastructure works continue to focus on pedestrian mobility. This includes the construction of a new walkway on Rua Conselheiro Laurindo to connect Praça Santos Andrade and Teatro Guaíra, as well as the transformation of Avenida Sete de Setembro into a pedestrian area near Praça Eufrásio Correia. The latter project integrates new sidewalks and bike lanes as part of the BRT Leste-Oeste project.
