Florianópolis police station inmate escapes through cell bars

A 39-year-old man escaped from the Central de Plantão Policial (CPP) in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, on Saturday morning. Security footage captured the suspect squeezing his body through a gap between the iron bars of his cell before walking out of the front door of the police station.

The man had been arrested hours earlier for domestic violence following an incident in the Pantanal neighborhood. According to reports, the suspect allegedly assaulted his partner, her daughter, and the daughter's boyfriend after an argument regarding drunk driving. He was being held under the Maria da Penha Law for bodily injury.

The Civil Police of Santa Catarina (PCSC) has closed the cell involved, stating it will undergo modifications to prevent similar occurrences.
