Florida authorities have announced the successful recovery of 163 missing children through a five-day law enforcement initiative known as ‘Operation Statewide Shield’. The children, ranging in age from two months to 17 years old, were located across various regions of Florida and in multiple locations outside the state.

Within Florida, the rescues included 46 children in the Tampa Bay area, 41 in Miami, 32 in Jacksonville, 21 in Orlando, 12 in Fort Myers, 8 in Pensacola, and 3 in the Tallahassee region. The operation also extended its reach to six other U.S. states and Puerto Rico, as well as 12 different countries, including Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Ghana, and Italy.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Commissioner Mark Glass reported that many of the recovered children had been victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. The operation has led to several arrests and the initiation of criminal investigations. The rescued children have been placed in care where they are receiving medical attention and victim support.
