The scope of the crackdown was global, involving investigations in six other U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and 12 different countries, including Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominica, Finland, Ghana, Guatemala, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Spain, and Taiwan. To date, three individuals have been arrested on charges including lewd acts with a minor, sexual battery, and interference with custody, though officials indicate more arrests are expected as investigations continue. The rescued children, many of whom suffered negligence and exploitation, have been placed in recovery centers to receive medical care and social services.
