Florida recovers 163 missing children in statewide operation

Florida authorities have recovered 163 missing children during a five-day law enforcement initiative known as ‘Operation Statewide Shield’. The operation, led by Attorney General James Uthmeier and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), is described as the largest child recovery effort in the state's history.

The rescued children, ranging in age from two months to 17 years, were found across various Florida regions, including 46 in Tampa Bay, 41 in Miami, 32 in Jacksonville, 21 in Orlando, 12 in Fort Myers, 8 in Pensacola, and 3 in Tallahassee. Many of the minors were reportedly victims of abuse, neglect, or human trafficking.

The scope of the operation extended beyond Florida, involving investigations in several other U.S. states and 12 different countries, including Brazil, Canada, Colombia, and Spain. To date, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, though officials indicated that more arrests are expected as investigations continue.
