Florida Gators begin fall camp, eye quarterback battle

The University of Florida Gators opened their fall football camp in Gainesville with a media day led by head coach Jon Sumrall. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Dallas Wilson, who missed most of last season with a foot injury, announced he is fully healthy and ready to compete for playing time.

Offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner said there is no set timeline for naming a starting quarterback. The competition centers on transfer Aaron Philo, who played under Faulkner at Georgia Tech, and returning backup Tramell Jones Jr. Both players have shown leadership in summer practices, and coaches highlighted Philo’s familiarity with the system and Jones’s athleticism and recent strong performances in spring drills.
