Florida mother arrested after autistic daughter found nude and wandering outside home
Flagler County authorities arrested 41‑year‑old Carla E. Nishikura after officers discovered her 8‑year‑old autistic, non‑verbal daughter wandering naked and barefoot outside their Flagler County home. The residence was described as a bio‑hazard environment, with fecal matter coating floors, walls and ceiling, cracked eggs, urine and exposed wiring. Nishikura told police the child had a “history of eloping” and blamed a missed zip‑tie on the garage door. She faces three felony child‑neglect counts.
In a separate Lake County case, 40‑year‑old Amy Brooke Evans was taken into custody after she delayed reporting her autistic child missing, opting to take a shower first. Police found the child in a parking lot, naked, with a heavily soiled diaper, fecal residue and multiple bruises. Evans was charged with child abuse by simple neglect.
