Florida officials seek death penalty in child abuse case

The Florida Attorney General is seeking the death penalty for two adults, Tamra Marshon Stewart, 37, and Keysha Monique Epps, 51, following allegations of severe child abuse and confinement. Investigators report that four children were kept in a truck, described as a ‘rolling prison’, for over six years from January 2020 to April 2026.

According to the investigation, the children were denied adequate food, medical care, schooling, and hygiene. The children reportedly suffered from untreated burns and one was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection. Two girls disclosed years of sexual abuse by Stewart, while two boys reported being beaten after witnessing the abuse.

Stewart faces multiple charges, including sexual battery by a person in familial or custodial authority, lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12, and child neglect causing permanent disfigurement. Epps is alleged to have known of the abuse and failed to report it as required by Florida law.
