Florida Panthers acquire Brady Tkachuk from Ottawa Senators

The Florida Panthers have made a major offseason move by acquiring Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators. The 26-year-old forward, who served as the Senators' captain for eight years, was traded in exchange for two 2026 first-round picks, a conditional 2029 first-round pick, and a 2029 second-round pick.

Tkachuk joins his brother, Matthew Tkachuk, in Florida. During his tenure in Ottawa, he recorded 463 points in 572 games. Following the trade, former Senators player Chris Neil expressed skepticism regarding Tkachuk's role, suggesting he might play in the top nine rather than the top six in Florida.

To bolster their roster, the Panthers also added goaltender Jacob Markstrom from New Jersey and Akira Schmid from Vegas. They also signed veteran Lars Eller and defenseman Radko Gudas. These moves follow the departure of longtime starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
