Flu vaccination drives expand across Brazilian municipalities

Municipal health authorities in Brazil are broadening influenza immunisation campaigns as the winter season approaches. In Cachoeira do Sul, a weekend “mutirão” at the Centre of Health Princesa do Jacuí distributed 600 vaccine doses to the public, with officials stressing the need to protect children, the elderly and other high‑risk groups. Meanwhile, Araxá launched an itinerant vaccination programme that brings the national vaccine schedule to Family Health Strategy units lacking permanent vaccination rooms, offering services to all age groups on specified dates throughout June. In Campos, the flu vaccine became available to the entire population from six months of age on Monday, with more than 40 vaccination sites operating to improve coverage and reduce severe cases and hospitalisations. All three initiatives aim to increase community immunity, especially among vulnerable residents, and curb the spread of respiratory infections.
