Flávio Bolsonaro congratulates Peru's new president and heads to US to defend Brazil's Pix

Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, a pre‑candidate for the presidency, praised Keiko Fujimori after she was declared winner of Peru’s presidential runoff, winning 50.135% of the vote in a narrow contest. Bolsonaro said the result marked a political shift in South America and hinted that a similar “blue wave” could reach Brazil.

The same day Bolsonaro announced he will travel to the United States to attend a hearing on a proposed 25% tariff on Brazilian exports. He sent a letter to the U.S. Trade Representative urging a suspension of the tariff and pledged to defend the Pix instant‑payment system, which he described as a Brazilian‑origin product created without fees. The hearing, scheduled for 6 July, will include civil‑society participants, while the Brazilian government plans to address the issue through diplomatic channels.
