TSE orders Flávio Bolsonaro to remove AI-generated and criminal-linked posts
The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has issued several rulings regarding campaign content during the Brazilian presidential race. In a unanimous decision, the court ordered Senator Flávio Bolsonaro to remove three posts from the social media platform X. One post utilized artificial intelligence to simulate President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in a fabricated scenario without proper disclosure, while two others falsely associated Lula with criminal organizations such as the PCC and CV.
Flávio Bolsonaro was given 24 hours to comply with the removal order or face daily fines. The court also prohibited the republication of this specific content.
In separate actions, Justice André Mendonça ordered the removal of a video by deputies André Janones and Lindbergh Farias that attributed specific, unsubstantiated policy proposals to Flávio Bolsonaro. Additionally, the court ordered the Lula campaign to remove a video that claimed Flávio Bolsonaro's economic plans would lead to specific cuts in social programs, noting that such claims lacked objective basis in his official government program.
Conversely, the TSE rejected a challenge against Flávio Bolsonaro's use of the term 'Tigrinho party' to describe the PT, ruling that the rhetoric fell within the bounds of political criticism.
