Flávio Bolsonaro faces investigation over alleged foreign campaign funding

Federal Deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) has filed a request with the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to investigate allegations that Flávio Bolsonaro’s presidential campaign may have received illegal foreign funding.

The investigation follows accusations made by Renan Santos, a candidate from the Missão party, claiming that the campaign received money from the Rockbridge Network, a group of financiers linked to U.S. President Donald Trump. The network was founded by J.D. Vance and businessman Chris Buskirk, a partner of Donald Trump Jr.

Farias is requesting that the STF, through the Electoral Court, demand a detailed accounting of the financing for Flávio Bolsonaro and the Liberal Party (PL). He has also recommended hearings with Renan Santos and former state deputy Arthur do Val regarding the matter. The goal is for the Prosecutor General's Office (PGR) to open an inquiry into potential violations of Brazilian law, which prohibits political parties and candidates from receiving donations from foreign entities or governments, whether directly or indirectly.
