Flávio Bolsonaro advisor investigated for negotiating funds with Marielle Franco case convict
The Brazilian Federal Police are investigating the suspected diversion of parliamentary funds linked to Senator Flávio Bolsonaro. Investigations reveal that a parliamentary advisor, Maria de Fátima Bezerra Castro, negotiated the release of R$ 199,000 in amendments with Robson Calixto, also known as Peixe.
Calixto is a convicted member of a criminal organization involved in the murder of former councilwoman Marielle Franco. According to investigators, the advisor reportedly invited Calixto to an event where he could personally request the funds from the senator. The money was directed to the Instituto de Formação Profissional José Carlos Procópio (Ifop), an entity located in a region influenced by the Brazão brothers, who were convicted as the masterminds behind Franco's assassination.
This inquiry is part of Operation Emendatio, which targets the misuse of federal amendments in Rio de Janeiro. Flávio Bolsonaro's office has denied wrongdoing, stating that the funds were allocated according to legal and technical criteria and that the responsibility for the execution of the resources lies with the beneficiary entity.
