Fly91 nears order for at least 20 ATR turboprop aircraft

Indian regional airline Fly91 is reportedly nearing an agreement to order at least 20 ATR turboprop aircraft. This deal would significantly expand the carrier's fleet and represent a major order for the Franco-Italian manufacturer, ATR.

Negotiations may also include options for additional aircraft. While an announcement could occur as early as this week, sources indicate that discussions are not yet finalized and the specific number of aircraft or the timeline could change. Fly91 currently operates six ATR 72-600 aircraft and has set a goal to operate 30 aircraft and connect more than 50 cities within its first five years of operation.

Based at Manohar International Airport in Goa, Fly91 focuses on regional services connecting smaller cities. The potential order would cover most of the additional fleet required to meet the airline's long-term targets. India has emerged as a critical market for turboprop aircraft as airlines seek to improve connectivity in regions where airport infrastructure or passenger volumes are better suited for 70-seat models like the ATR 72-600.
