Fly91 expansion of ATR aircraft fleet
Overview
Indian regional airline Fly91, based in Goa, has finalized a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft in a deal valued at approximately $1 billion. This agreement represents the largest single commitment to ATR turboprops by an Indian regional operator and is noted as the largest order ever placed by a regional airline, marking ATR’s largest single order in nearly a decade.
The aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2032. This expansion is intended to grow Fly91’s current fleet of six aircraft to a projected 60 aircraft over the next five years. The move aims to enhance connectivity between Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, supporting India’s regional aviation growth and the government’s UDAN 2.0 framework.
For ATR, a joint venture between Airbus and Leonardo, the order significantly boosts its 2026 backlog. The company’s total orders for 2026 have reached 54, surpassing the total net orders recorded in 2025, capitalizing on rising demand within the Indian aviation market.
