FLY91 orders 40 ATR aircraft in $1 billion deal

Indian regional airline FLY91 has signed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, a deal valued at approximately $1 billion. This represents the largest single order for the manufacturer ATR in nearly a decade and is the largest order ever placed by a regional airline.

The aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2032. The agreement will allow the Goa-based carrier to expand its current fleet of six aircraft to a projected 60 aircraft over the next five years. This expansion aims to enhance connectivity between Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, supporting India’s regional aviation growth and the government’s UDAN 2.0 framework.

For ATR, a joint venture between Airbus and Leonardo, the order significantly boosts its 2026 backlog, bringing its total orders for the year to 54, already surpassing the total net orders recorded in 2025. The move capitalizes on the growing demand in the Indian aviation market, where regional connectivity remains a national priority.
