Flybondi grounded for five days as JetSmart launches new Buenos Aires‑San Juan route

Argentina’s low‑cost carrier Flybondi has not operated any scheduled flights for five consecutive days, cancelling eight services announced for July 7 and reducing its fleet from 11 to 10 aircraft. The airline, reported to be operating without a CEO, faces rising debt and criticism over its impact on the national air‑travel market.

Meanwhile, ultra‑low‑cost airline JetSmart announced it will begin direct flights between Buenos Aires and San Juan in November, with five weekly frequencies and promotional fares starting at $39.10. JetSmart plans to expand its fleet to 23 aircraft by the 2027 summer season, adding newer Airbus A321s to meet growing demand.
