Flybondi pilot promissory note invalidated by Argentine court

The National Chamber of Labor Appeals has invalidated a $32,500 promissory note that the airline Flybondi required a pilot to sign as a condition of employment. The document, titled ‘Professional Training Agreement. Commitment to Permanence and Non-Competition,’ mandated that the pilot repay the sum if they left the company before completing two years of service.

Judges ruled that the requirement imposed restrictions incompatible with labor laws and the worker's freedom to terminate the contractual relationship. The court noted that the company failed to objectively prove it had incurred $32,500 in specific training expenses. The ruling stated that while training is a business decision, using such costs as an economic threat to ensure employee retention is improper.
