Flybondi suspends all flights as operational, financial and legal crisis deepens

Argentina’s low‑cost carrier Flybondi cancelled all 11 scheduled flights on 25 June 2026, leaving its three remaining aircraft on the ground and reporting that up to nine planes are out of service due to maintenance problems, leasing disputes and a fuel supply shortfall linked to delayed payments to YPF.

The airline is confronting a criminal complaint over the cancellation of more than 2,500 flights that affected over 350,000 passengers, and former employees have filed lawsuits alleging the airline has not paid agreed severance and voluntary‑retirement benefits signed in March 2026. These payments, described as essential for families, remain unpaid despite being formalised before a public notary.

The crisis follows a series of operational setbacks that began in 2025, including a fleet reduction to a single aircraft during the summer peak. In June 2025, ownership passed to the COC Global Enterprise fund, and longtime CEO Mauricio Sana left the company after more than seven years, but the restructuring has not stabilised operations. Analysts note the situation is the most severe since the COVID‑19 pandemic and raises doubts about Flybondi’s continued viability in the Argentine market.
