Flybondi faces operational collapse amid debt and labor crisis
Argentine low-cost carrier Flybondi is facing a severe operational and financial collapse. The airline has not operated flights for 12 consecutive days, and its official website is currently non-functional, displaying a 504 Gateway time-out error. This disruption follows a period of massive flight cancellations; since January, the company has reportedly canceled approximately 2,400 flights, affecting nearly 383,000 passengers.
Financially, the company is under extreme pressure. A judicial embargo of over $1.5 billion has been ordered due to debts with ARCA. Additionally, a dispute has emerged between US investment funds, with COC Group accusing Cartesian Capital Group of financial irregularities and hidden liabilities. There is growing speculation that the airline may enter bankruptcy proceedings to renegotiate its obligations.
The crisis has also triggered a major labor conflict. More than 700 former employees are demanding unpaid indemnities and severance. Active staff report that salaries for June and July remain unpaid, and health insurance coverage was suspended on August 6 due to the company's failure to pay social security contributions.
Geographically, the airline is retreating from several provinces. Operations have been suspended in Salta, Jujuy, and Santiago del Estero, with local offices being closed as the company undergoes significant downsizing.
