flydubai announces fleet expansion and cabin retrofit programme

Dubai-based carrier flydubai is expanding its fleet beyond 100 aircraft and launching a new phase of its cabin retrofit programme. The airline is scheduled to receive 11 new aircraft in 2026, including seven Boeing 737-9 MAX and four Boeing 737-8 MAX models, as part of a long-term modernisation strategy to increase capacity on high-demand routes.

Starting in September, the airline will begin retrofitting 21 existing aircraft over a 12-month period. This programme aims to replace current recliner Business Class seats with signature lie-flat seats to provide a more consistent and elevated passenger experience. Additionally, the retrofit will include the installation of Boeing’s larger Space Bins to increase overhead storage capacity.

CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith stated that the fleet growth and investments are central to supporting growing operations while maintaining one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets in the industry.
