Flying Blue to introduce tiered award pricing for Air France and KLM flights

Flying Blue, the loyalty program for Air France and KLM, will introduce a new tiered pricing structure for award bookings starting September 8, 2026. The program will implement three distinct fare levels: Light, Standard, and Flex.

The new Light tier is designed as the most economical option but comes with significant restrictions. These bookings will be neither changeable nor refundable. In Business Class, the Light option will reduce benefits, offering only one checked bag and removing lounge access and free seat selection.

To maintain previous levels of service, such as lounge access and flexibility for changes or refunds, members will need to select the Standard or Flex tiers, which require a higher number of miles. Critics suggest this move effectively devalues the program by increasing the real cost of award travel for members seeking traditional benefits.
