Flying Blue to introduce tiered reward bookings in 2026

Flying Blue, the loyalty program for Air France-KLM, will introduce three tiers of reward bookings starting September 8, 2026. The new system includes a “Light” tier, which represents the cheapest award option but comes with significant restrictions.

Under the “Light” tier, passengers will face punitive rules regarding changes and cancellations, as these bookings are non-refundable and non-changeable. Additionally, “Light” rewards offer fewer amenities, such as no checked baggage in Economy or Premium Economy, and no lounge access even for Business Class redemptions. Advance seat selection will also incur extra costs.

Elite status holders will retain certain benefits that mitigate these restrictions. Silver status members will regain baggage and seat selection benefits, while Gold members will regain lounge access. Platinum members will also be able to perform free award changes and refunds, effectively allowing them to bypass the most restrictive aspects of the new tier system.
