Fnac impersonation scams target consumers via SMS
Cybercriminals are increasingly using fraudulent SMS messages to target consumers during major commercial events like the French Days. These phishing attacks often impersonate well-known retailers, such as Fnac, to trick users into believing they must confirm a pending order.
The scams typically involve an urgent message containing a link to a deceptive form. Once victims enter their credit card details, their bank accounts are emptied. Authorities warn that legitimate retailers do not request order confirmations via SMS by asking for immediate card number entry. To avoid these traps, users are advised to verify URLs, avoid clicking suspicious links, and report fraudulent sites to official government platforms.
