Foggia jewelry store robbery netting over €100,000
In the early hours of 23 June, a group of five masked assailants stormed the Buono jewellery shop on Corso Garibaldi in Foggia, Italy. They cut the shop’s shutter with a flex cutter, smashed the entrance with sledgehammers and a battering ram, and looted jewellery, watches and cash valued at more than €100,000.
The thieves fled in a high‑performance Audi, deploying fire extinguishers along their route to create a dense smoke screen that impeded police pursuit. One of the perpetrators lost a mobile phone during the escape, which investigators hope will help identify the gang. Carabinieri units responded quickly but were unable to apprehend the suspects. Surveillance footage is being examined as the investigation continues.
