Foggia unions celebrate training milestones and demand heat safety after worker death
In Foggia, a ceremony on 8 July 2026 awarded certificates for professional qualification courses for babysitters and domestic workers. The event, organised by the CISL Foggia union together with partners such as ANOLF, FISASCAT and Medtraining, highlighted the network’s effort to boost skills, inclusion and local employment. Attendees included CISL Foggia General Secretary Carla Costantino, who praised the collaborative model, and President Nino Spagnolo, who noted the programme’s value for personal and community dignity.
Separately, CGIL Foggia expressed mourning over the death of Leonardo Di Tuccio, an Amiu waste‑collection operator who died on the job. The union called for a thorough judicial inquiry into possible heat‑stress factors and urged immediate implementation of safety measures, such as shifting work to cooler hours, suspending heavy tasks during high‑temperature periods, and providing water and cooling equipment. A CGIL representative warned, "Oggi non è il momento di trarre conclusioni affrettate o alimentare polemiche," urging authorities to prioritize worker safety.
Both events underscore active union engagement in Foggia’s labour sphere, from skill‑building initiatives to workplace‑safety advocacy.
