Fogo Simbólico arrives in Farroupilha and Salto do Jacuí

The symbolic 'Fogo Simbólico da Pátria' (Patriotic Symbolic Fire) has arrived in the municipalities of Farroupilha and Salto do Jacuí, marking the start of the 2026 'Semana da Pátria' celebrations in Rio Grande do Sul.

In Farroupilha, the flame was received by Mayor Jonas Tomazini and conducted by representatives from the Liga de Defesa Nacional, the Fire Department, and the Military Brigade. The local theme focuses on the region's missionary roots and modern achievements. Scout groups will guard the flame until August 31, followed by a series of civic activities and a traditional parade on September 7.

In Salto do Jacuí, the 89th edition of the Symbolic Fire run saw the flame received by Vice-Mayor Gelso Brito. This year's celebrations honor the 400-year history of the 'Sete Povos das Missões' at a national level and the 185th anniversary of the Rio Grande do Sul Civil Police at a state level. The municipal theme emphasizes the meeting of diverse peoples and cultures.
