Folklore ensembles from Moldova and Romania perform at international festivals
The 19th edition of the ‘Doina Covurluiului’ International Folklore Festival commenced in Galați, running from August 20 to 23, 2026. The event features folk ensembles from nine countries, including India, Paraguay, Georgia, Greece, Serbia, Egypt, Spain, Ukraine, and Slovakia. Among the participants are the ‘Altița’ Folk Ensemble and the ‘Izvorașul’ Dance Ensemble from Cahul, Moldova. The festival, organized by the Galați County Council through the ‘Dunărea de Jos’ Cultural Center under the CIOFF aegis, aims to promote global traditional music and dance.
In a separate cultural event, the ‘Someșul’ Folk Ensemble from Beclean, Romania, performed at a folklore and Romanian music festival in Glogoni and Nicolinț, Serbia. The ensemble presented various traditional suites, including dances from Transilvania, Țara Oașului, and the Someș Valley, serving as a cultural bridge for Romanian communities in the Vojvodina region.
