Folklore Historical Museum of Larissa hosts Days of Folklore
The Folklore Historical Museum of Larissa is hosting the inaugural ‘Giorgos and Lena Gourgiti Days of Folklore’ from September 17 to September 20. The event is part of the ‘Thessaly 2021–2027’ program, co-funded by the European Union.
A central feature of the event is the periodic exhibition titled ‘27+26 Hand Traces for a Museum,’ curated by Iris Kriti and Fani Kalokairinou. The exhibition creates a dialogue between 27 selected objects from the museum’s permanent collections and 26 works by contemporary Greek artists. The combined number, 53, commemorates the 53 years of the museum’s operation.
The four-day program includes various experiential workshops for adults, children, and families, covering topics such as painting, weaving, traditional stamping, and the maintenance of wooden objects. Other scheduled activities include theatrical performances and school group actions.
