Fondazione FS launches historic train itineraries in Piedmont and Lombardy
The Fondazione FS has added two author‑designed historic train routes that showcase the culinary and wine heritage of Piedmont and Lombardy. The first, the Milano‑Alba service, will run on Sundays 11, 18 and 25 October 2026, departing Milan Centrale at 09:05 and arriving in Alba at 12:35 via Pavia, Alessandria and Asti, with a return trip in the evening. The second, the Torino‑Canelli service, will operate on Sundays 1, 8, 15 and 22 November 2026, leaving Torino Porta Nuova at 08:55, reaching Canelli at 11:29 (inaugural run) and returning after a midday break. The November inaugural will be hauled by a steam locomotive, adding historic appeal. Both journeys use vintage carriages (70‑s Gran Confort for Milano‑Alba and 20‑s Centoporte for Torino‑Canelli) and include on‑board wine tastings, food master‑classes and cultural commentary on the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato regions. Tickets are sold through the Trenitalia website and its sales channels.
