Fondazione FS historic train itineraries

In early August 2026, Italy’s Fondazione FS announced the launch of two author‑designed historic‑train services for the autumn season. The Milano‑Alba route will operate on Sundays 11, 18 and 25 October, departing Milan Centrale at 09:05 and returning in the evening, using 1970s‑era Gran Confort carriages and offering on‑board wine tastings and culinary master‑classes that highlight the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato wine and truffle heritage.

The Torino‑Canelli service is scheduled for Sundays 1, 8, 15 and 22 November, leaving Torino Porta Nuova at 08:55, stopping at Lingotto, Bra and Alba before reaching Canelli around 11:30. It runs in historic 1920s “Centoporte” carriages, with the inaugural 1 November run pulled by a steam locomotive. Both journeys combine scenic autumn foliage with enogastronomic experiences and promote the UNESCO‑listed landscapes of the region. Tickets are sold through the Trenitalia website and the Fondazione FS portal.

A follow‑up announcement a few days later reiterated the same schedule and rolling‑stock details while adding stop information and emphasizing the cultural and culinary significance of the routes, confirming the plan’s rollout without further changes.
