Fondo de Cultura Económica distributes free '25 para el 25' books in Buenos Aires
The Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE) began a free‑book giveaway on 8 July at its Librería del Fondo (Costa Rica 4568) in Palermo, Buenos Aires. Young people aged 15‑30 can receive a copy of a book from the "25 para el 25" collection, which features 2.5 million titles across Latin America. The first 50 visitors at 17:00 receive a set of five books; thereafter each person gets one random title while supplies last.
The initiative, supported by the Instituto Cultural de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, aims to promote reading among youth by providing works from authors such as Gabriel García Márquez, Eduardo Galeano, Mario Benedetti, Blanca Varela, Roque Dalton and many others. It is part of a continent‑wide campaign that seeks to circulate free literature to adolescents and young adults throughout Latin America.
