Fontainebleau forest fire endangers guitarist Louis Bertignac's home
A severe wildfire has engulfed France's Fontainebleau forest in Seine-et-Marne, scorching more than 1,300 hectares within hours as extreme heat and strong winds drove the flames toward residential areas. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez noted multiple ignition points and suggested a possible criminal cause while firefighters, supported by aerial units, struggle to contain the blaze.
The fire reached the vicinity of guitarist Louis Bertignac's countryside property. His wife, Laetitia Bertignac, shared distressing Instagram posts from their garden, repeatedly writing “I cry” and describing the situation as a nightmare. She offered her land, emptied their pool for firefighters, and prepared fruit crates for rescue crews. The posts sparked a wave of online criticism, to which she responded with a strong statement refusing to seek compassion and condemning the hateful comments.
The incident highlights the growing risk of intense wildfires near major French urban centers, underscoring climate‑change impacts on the Île‑de‑France region.
