Fontaines D. C. announce fifth album ‘Dopamine Chamber’

Irish band Fontaines D. C. has announced their fifth studio album, titled ‘Dopamine Chamber’, scheduled for release on October 16 via XL Recordings. Produced by James Ford, the record follows their platinum-certified album ‘Romance’ and marks a sonic shift toward colder, more synthetic textures and away from traditional guitar-driven rock.

The announcement includes the release of the lead single ‘Marianne’, accompanied by a music video directed by Dave Meyers. The track, which explores themes of escapism and hedonism, was partially inspired by the 2024 series ‘Ripley’.

The band has dedicated this project to their late manager and friend, Trevor Dietz. Bassist Conor Deegane noted that Dietz played a crucial role in preserving the song ‘Marianne’ during the recording process. Vocalist Grian Chatten described the album's themes as an exploration of seeking pleasure in an increasingly dark and automated world.
