Fonyód opens cardio trail as memorial hike honors Márton Róth
New recreational and memorial initiatives have been launched in Hungary and Slovakia. In Fonyód, Hungary, the Panorama Cardio Trail was inaugurated on October 3 as part of the ‘Path to Health’ program. Initiated by the Budapest Szent Ferenc Hospital, the trail is designed to combine nature hiking with health-conscious physical activity, specifically benefiting individuals with cardiovascular issues, high blood pressure, or diabetes. The development includes two land routes (1.88 km and 4.65 km) and a unique two-kilometer water section that can be completed by kayak from the City Beach.
In the Káposztafalvi-karszt region, a memorial hike dedicated to Márton Róth was organized by the CoolTour enterprise on behalf of the Hazajáró Honismereti és Turista Egylet. Approximately forty hikers from Hungary and Upper Hungary participated in the 15-kilometer trek through the Nagy-sólyom-völgy gorge. The event honored Róth, a teacher and pioneer of nature research and tourism in the region, whose legacy includes various geographical landmarks.
