Food commodity prices fluctuate in Indonesia

Strategic food commodity prices in traditional markets experienced fluctuations at the start of the week. According to data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS), red bird's eye chili saw a significant increase of 2.67 percent, reaching Rp59,650 per kilogram.

Other chili varieties also saw price hikes, including large red chili (up 1.75 percent to Rp49,900 per kg) and curly red chili (up 1 percent to Rp50,400 per kg). Rice prices also trended upward, with low-quality rice at Rp14,800 per kg and super quality I rice at Rp17,750 per kg.

Beef prices rose by 0.4 percent to Rp151,750 per kg, and local granulated sugar increased slightly to Rp19,150 per kg. Conversely, some commodities saw price decreases, such as shallots (down 1.49 percent to Rp39,550 per kg), garlic (down 1.32 percent to Rp41,050 per kg), and chicken eggs (down 0.17 percent to Rp29,450 per kg).
