Food safety officials uncover hygiene violations in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam

Food safety officials in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam conducted inspections of various restaurants and hotels, uncovering significant hygiene and storage violations.

In Hyderabad, the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) inspected 15 establishments. Findings included cockroach and rodent infestations, expired food, spoiled vegetables, and poor personal hygiene among food handlers. Specific violations at establishments like Acsys Hospitality LLP and Pakwan Grand Restaurant involved rat feces, expired rice, and improper labeling. Eight FSSAI licenses were suspended, and one restaurant was closed for operating without a license.

In Visakhapatnam, inspections led by the Drugs Control Administration identified similar issues. Officials seized and destroyed approximately 90 kg of chicken at Kamat Hotel and Pista House due to improper storage. Other establishments, including Alpha Hotel and Fusion Foods, faced kitchen closures or improvement notices following reports of unsanitary conditions and hygiene deficiencies.
