Forbrugerrådet Tænk finds harmful chemicals in viral Squishy Dumplings toys

Testing by Forbrugerrådet Tænk has identified problematic substances in two versions of the viral 'Squishy Dumplings' toy. The analysis found the presence of BTEX substances, which include toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene. These chemicals, often found in oil and gasoline, are volatile and can be easily released into the environment.

The presence of these substances may explain the strong gasoline-like odor reported by parents. These chemicals are considered problematic for health, specifically regarding potential impacts on reproductive capacity and causing irritation to the skin and airways.

Forbrugerrådet Tænk advises consumers not to purchase Squishy Dumplings that emit a strong gasoline smell. For those who already own the product, the organization recommends washing the surface and airing the product out. If these steps do not resolve the issue, consumers are advised to return or dispose of the product.
