Ford Almussafes secures new production era via Geely alliance

The Ford manufacturing plant in Almussafes, Valencia, has entered a new industrial phase during its 50th anniversary, driven by a strategic alliance with the Chinese Geely Holding Group. This partnership secures the production of five different models at the facility through 2029, providing clarity regarding the plant's future and employment prospects.

Starting in 2028, the plant will integrate two Geely SUVs and a Ford multi-energy crossover into its production lineup. These models will join the existing Kuga and the upcoming Bronco series. While the increased volume is expected to boost workloads and potentially recover jobs in the coming years, the factory faces a transitional period with reduced activity. Management and unions anticipate a valley period, particularly during 2027, which may necessitate temporary employment regulations (ERTE) before the full launch of the new models.
