Ford and Geely partner for vehicle production in Valencia

The industrial landscape in Valencia, Spain, is undergoing a significant shift as Chinese capital and technology become increasingly integrated into the region's core sectors, including the port, energy, and automotive industries.

A primary example of this transition is the Almussafes automotive plant. Ford and Geely have announced a joint venture to manufacture multi-energy vehicles at the Valencian facility. Under this agreement, Ford will hold a 66% stake, while Geely will hold 34%. The partnership is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2027, with the first vehicles scheduled to roll off the production line in 2028.

This move aims to stabilize the Almussafes plant, which has seen a significant decline in production. In 2025, output fell below 100,000 units, a sharp decrease from the 345,000 units produced in 2019. The entry of Geely is intended to utilize idle facilities and attract new investment, marking a new era for the Valencian industrial fabric.
