Ford announces large US recall and Brazil recall over vehicle safety defects

Ford Motor Company is recalling 741,195 vehicles in the United States because a transmission parking pawl defect can cause parked vehicles to roll away. The recall covers select 2018‑2021 model‑year F‑150 pickups, Explorers, Aviators, Expeditions, and Navigators. Regulators received 282 reports of the issue, including 24 property‑damage claims and nine injuries. Ford will provide a power‑train control module software update and replace damaged transmission components, with notification letters to owners expected in August 2026 and repair instructions in early 2027.

In Brazil, Ford is recalling several 2023‑2025 model vehicles – Ranger, Ranger Raptor, F‑150, Mustang and Mustang Mach‑E – due to a multimedia‑system defect that may freeze or omit the rear‑camera image when backing up, increasing crash risk. Owners will receive a software update for the central multimedia unit. Service appointments can be scheduled at dealerships beginning 18 August 2025.

Both recalls require owners to bring affected vehicles to authorized service centers for free repairs.
