Ford 2026 recalls broaden to US and Brazil

Overview

Ford’s 2026 recall effort continued through mid‑July. On 13 July the company announced a U.S. recall of 741,195 vehicles – select 2018‑2021 model‑year F‑150 pickups, Explorers, Aviators, Expeditions and Navigators – to remedy a transmission‑parking‑pawl defect that can let a vehicle roll while in “park”. Regulators have logged 282 reports, including 24 property‑damage claims and nine injuries. Ford will provide a power‑train control module software update and replace the affected transmission parts; owners will receive notification letters in August 2026 with repairs expected in early 2027.

In Brazil, Ford is recalling 2023‑2025 Ranger, Ranger Raptor, F‑150, Mustang and Mustang Mach‑E models because a multimedia‑system fault may freeze or omit the rear‑camera image when backing up, increasing crash risk. A software update for the central multimedia unit will be supplied, and service appointments can be scheduled starting 18 August 2025.

These actions add to the early‑July recall of 2024‑2026 Mustang models, 2021‑2023 Mustang Mach‑E SUVs, Explorer Hybrid and Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid for wiper‑motor and rear‑differential issues, and the earlier transmission‑park‑pawl recall covering over 741 000 trucks and SUVs. No additional crashes or injuries have been reported beyond the nine injuries noted in the latest U.S. filings. Owners will receive free inspections and repairs through Ford’s dealer network, and the automaker continues to cooperate with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
