Ford faces sharp U.S. EV sales drop and record‑high global vehicle recalls

Ford reported a 14% decline in U.S. vehicle sales for April, delivering 178,667 units, with electric‑vehicle sales falling 31% year‑on‑year. The company reintroduced employee pricing discounts for 2025‑2026 models, offering the Mustang Mach‑E at a starting price of $36,005 and the F‑150 Lightning at $50,646, along with a free Level‑2 home charger. Separately, Ford is approaching a new record for vehicle recalls, with more than 11.2 million cars affected worldwide through 50 recall events in 2026. The largest recall this year involves 4.4 million F‑Series trucks in North America due to a software defect that can disable brakes and warning lights.
