Ford introduces 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail and standardizes larger batteries

Ford has announced significant updates for the 2027 Mustang Mach-E lineup, headlined by the introduction of the Mach-E Trail. This new trim is designed as a mild off-road package for the Select eAWD model, targeting drivers who frequent gravel roads, dirt tracks, and campsites rather than hardcore rock crawlers.

The Trail package includes a recalibrated suspension that increases ground clearance by 10 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear. It also adopts hardware from the high-performance Mach-E Rally, including a more direct steering rack, 19-inch dark gray alloy wheels, and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires. Additionally, the Trail comes standard with the 400W Pro Power Onboard system, providing 120V outlets in the cargo area and center console to power outdoor equipment.

Beyond the Trail variant, Ford is implementing a major structural change to the entire Mach-E range by making the extended-range battery standard. The 73 kWh battery is being replaced by an 88 kWh pack for the Select and Premium trims, while the GT and Rally models will continue to use 91 kWh batteries. This shift provides a significant increase in usable energy across the entry and mid-level models. Deliveries for the 2027 models are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
