Ford 2027 Mustang model updates
Overview
Ford has announced several updates and new variants for its 2027 Mustang lineup. The company released an order guide for the 2027 Mustang EcoBoost, which features a 2.3L engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. New additions to the EcoBoost lineup include the Wheel and Stripe Package and a ‘Precision Purple Metallic’ color option, while certain interior and mirror features from the 2026 model have been removed.
Additionally, Ford introduced the 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail, a variant intended for light off-road use on surfaces such as gravel, dirt, and snow. Scheduled to arrive in the United States in the first quarter of 2027, the Trail package is available for the Select eAWD trim. It features hardware upgrades including a recalibrated suspension with a ride height increase of 10 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear, a more direct steering rack, 19-inch wheels, and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires. The Mach-E Trail also features 400W Pro Power Onboard with 120V outlets for utility purposes.
Regarding the broader Mach-E range, Ford is implementing a structural change by making the extended-range battery standard. The 73 kWh battery will be replaced by an 88 kWh pack for the Select and Premium trims, while the GT and Rally models will continue to use 91 kWh batteries. All 2027 Mach-E models are expected to include a new front electric motor designed to deliver performance equivalent to the previous unit at a lower production cost, which aims to help offset the price impact of the larger standard batteries.
