Ford plans $30,000 midsize electric pickup for 2027 launch

Ford is developing a new midsize electric pickup that will be the first model built on the company's Universal EV (UEV) platform. The vehicle is priced around $30,000 and is slated to enter production in 2027, with assembly planned at Ford's Louisville plant.

Prototype units have been spotted in camouflage during public road tests, including alongside a full‑size Expedition SUV, showing the pickup’s compact dimensions that are closer to the Ford Maverick than the larger F‑150 Lightning. The design features a lower ride height, a large touchscreen, and a native NACS charging port. Ford says the model will achieve more than 15% better aerodynamic efficiency than existing pickups, promising longer range and lower cost. Interior space is expected to exceed that of a Toyota RAV4. The rollout will expand Ford’s low‑cost EV lineup, which the company describes as a potential "Model T moment" for its brand.
