Ford Pro introduces new telematics services and Transit City

At the IAA Nutzfahrzeuge in Hannover, Ford Pro showcased the full body spectrum of the electric Transit City, which is scheduled to reach dealers in the fourth quarter. To combat rising competition and recent sales declines, the commercial vehicle division is pivoting toward data-driven services.

Ford Pro is launching two new telematics services to reduce costs for fleet operators. A company-commissioned study indicates that fleet operators lose approximately 750 euros per day for every vehicle that is out of service. To address this, the new Uptime Services will allow Ford employees to analyze data from the company's 1.2 million connected vehicles, prioritize maintenance needs, order spare parts, and coordinate appointments through a network of over 200 Transit Centers.

Since 2019, all Ford transporters have been equipped with modems, creating a significant dataset that Ford intends to leverage to increase customer loyalty and minimize vehicle downtime.
