Ford proposes militarized Ranger vehicles for British Army
Ford is collaborating with General Dynamics Land Systems UK and Ricardo to propose militarized Ford Ranger vehicles to the British Army. The project aims to secure a contract for approximately 2,500 light vehicles to replace aging Land Rover Defenders and Pinzgauer models by 2030.
One of the primary proposals is a 6x6 version utilizing a chassis from the Australian Super Duty. This model features a 3-liter V6 turbodiesel engine producing 209 hp and 600 Nm of torque, supplemented by a 286 hp rear electric motor. The vehicle is designed for heavy-duty use, capable of towing 4.5 tonnes, carrying a payload of nearly two tonnes, and wading through 85 cm of water.
Evaluations for these vehicles are scheduled to take place between October 2026 and January 2027.
