Ford recalls 548,000 Expedition SUVs over hazardous center console trim
Ford Motor Company has issued a recall covering 548,463 Expedition SUVs built between 2018 and 2024. The chrome‑plated center console trim can peel or bubble, creating sharp edges that may injure occupants. Ford reports that about 65 people have suffered injuries and one accident is linked to the defect. The automaker has logged 34 customer‑call reports, 150 field reports and 4,634 warranty claims worldwide. An estimated 12.8 % of the recalled vehicles are expected to exhibit the problem.
Owners will receive an interim notification between June 29 and July 2, followed by a remedy notice on January 29, 2027. Dealerships will inspect the console and replace any unit with peeling or bubbling chrome trim at no cost to the customer. The recall is being overseen by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
